Frequently Asked Questions
Where Do You Source Your Ingredients From?
Since our family has been involved with Wisconsin Agriculture since 1954, we will always source our whey protein from Wisconsin farmers. Our Organic Greens blend is sourced 100% in the USA. Our Tropics are grown in tropical regions where weather allow the most nutrient dense fruits are grown.
What Does Cold Filtered Mean?
"Cold filtered" refers to a specific method of processing whey protein that involves using low temperatures during filtration. Whey protein is derived from milk and undergoes several processing steps to separate it from other components such as fat and lactose. Cold filtering, also known as cold microfiltration, is a technique that employs low temperatures, to preserve the protein's natural structure and integrity.
During the cold filtration process, the whey protein mixture is passed through specialized filters with fine pores. These filters allow smaller protein molecules to pass through while capturing larger impurities, such as fats, carbohydrates, and some minerals. The low temperatures used in cold filtration help minimize the denaturation of the protein, which refers to changes in its molecular structure that can occur under higher temperatures.
The cold filtering method preserves the bioavailability and overall quality of the whey protein by minimizing the loss of essential amino acids and maintaining a higher concentration of undamaged proteins. As a result, cold-filtered whey protein is often considered to be a premium form of whey protein, sought after by athletes, fitness enthusiasts, and individuals looking for a high-quality protein supplement.
Not all whey protein products undergo cold filtration. Different manufacturers may use various methods of processing and filtration, which can affect the final quality and characteristics of the whey protein.
All Pure Choice Farms Whey protein goes through the cold filtration process, so you can be confident you'll have the highest quality.
What is the Shelf Life of Pure Choice Protein Powder?
Whey protein has an incredible shelf life, and we give it 2 years after it's made. However, if kept cool & dry, it can last much longer. For safety purposes, we don't recommend taking it if it's over 2 years old.
How Should I Store Protein Powder to Maintain its Quality?
Cool, dry, and sealed is the best whey!
Is Pure Choice Whey Tested for Metals & Banned Substances?
Every batch of whey in Wisconsin, not only ours, is tested for a multitude of levels, required and monitored by the Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection. Metals testing is done periodically and have never registered harmful. Dairy is typically monitored on a greater scale than most food sources, so we always hold the highest standards.

Can I Have Whey Protein Isolate if I Am Lactose Intolerant?
Cold filtered whey protein isolate offers a great option for lactose-intolerant individuals seeking the benefits of whey protein. It undergoes a specialized filtration process that removes most of the lactose, resulting in a product that is virtually lactose-free. Pure Choice Whey protein is cold filtered at 80-90° and is virtually lactose free.
Are There Any Allergens Present in Your Protein Powder?
All whey originates from milk. We also mix our flavors in the same facility as peanuts are handled, although peanut batches of our Peanut Better Whey are never done on the same day as other flavors.
